Summary: Manages the financial performance of the company’s contracts assigned that requires both accounting theory and practice. Contracts assigned are generally those of basic to intermediate complexity.
Essential Job Functions:
(not limited to duties as described – performs related duties as requested)
Reviews contract award and modification documents and compares to project proposals for accuracy
Sets up projects in system based on contract documents
Reviews and processes vendor/subcontractor invoices
Provides month-end project analysis on financial status of projects including variances to forecasted revenue and profitability and variances to proposed revenue and profitability.
Provides Estimate at Completion analysis on projects
Prepares monthly forecast for projects
Assists in annual financial audit by providing information on assigned projects.
Prepares Cash forecasting reports, including weekly receipts, for management
Prepares journal entries for month-end close, ensuring transactions are reasonable and in compliance with Business Processes
Reviews coding of invoices, and check/wire requests for indirect departments, ensuring proper support provided
Accounting/analysis of intercompany account including distribution of intercompany invoices to Corporate accountants and month-end uncleared intercompany balance
Prepares detailed variance analysis for indirect departments, comparing actual results to plan and forecast, with explanations for variances
Reviews Billed and Unbilled Accounts Receivable reports, with explanations for variances
Maintains and reconciles balance sheet accounts
Prepares 3-year plan, forecasts and capital budgets for indirect departments
Maintains external reconciliation databases as needed
Prepares consolidated annual tax and accounting packages according to established schedule(s)
Prepares footnotes for year-end financials as assigned
Assists in year-end and interim financial audit work and DCAA audits.
Updates Business Processes, Work Instructions and forms, on an annual basis
Provides other accounting/financial information that may be requested and assist management in interpretation of the data and its implications
Participates in continuous process improvement efforts relating to finance
Education & Experience: (or equivalent)
2 years professional-level project accounting in the defense contracting industry
BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance
Level of Supervision: Does not supervise
Knowledge & Skills:
Thorough knowledge of GAAP, FAR and CAS
Working knowledge of accounting systems interfaces, applications and software
Working knowledge of programming applicable to current system
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
