Summary/ General Description of Responsibilities:

Provide engineering technical (ET) support for Engineers working in areas such as research, design, and development base real property facilities. Provide technical support to craftsperson’s from the Utility Section to include Plumbers and Liquid Fuels personnel. Must have hands on experience troubleshooting and working on Liquid Fuels systems, Waste Water systems and Domestic potable Water systems. Must have a practical knowledge of engineering. Will require a practical knowledge mathematics. Prepare design drawings and assist with designs, evaluations, complex problem solving and/or modifications to fuel and water systems. Will also be responsible for the input and updating of the Air Force BUILDER software program. The water and fuel ET will conduct Facility Condition Assessments (FCAs) on base real property (RP) and real property installed equipment (RPIE). The water and fuel ET will be working through the Utilities Systems Activity Management Plan (AMP) engineer as the Wastewater, Storm Water, Potable/Non-Potable Water Sub-AMP.

Work Conditions:

Generally works in an office environment. May be periodically exposed to craft shops, work sites, confined spaces, and inclement weather conditions.

Required Skills

Job Requirements, Mandatory:

  • Valid state driver’s license.

  • Must be able to obtain Flight line driving permit.

  • Experience with AutoCAD and related equipment.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ of verifiable experience in the water and fuels field.

  • Must be able to work on and trouble shoot all types of fuel dispensing, pumping and storage systems and associated equipment.

  • Must be knowledgeable with fuel filtration systems and what type of filters are to be used for specific types of petroleum products.

  • Well versed in Lift station operations and functions and associated piping, pumps, equipment and controls.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, specifications, and manufacturers’ installation and operation manuals.

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand American English.

  • Have a working knowledge of hazardous, safety, and environmental warnings, as per contract requirement.

  • Knowledge of conformance to a variety of applicable commercial, local, state, and federal codes, rules, regulations, and standards.

  • Strong background in the use of arithmetic, geometry, and practical mathematics.

  • Team player; ability to communicate effectively and work harmoniously with others.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft software to include Excel, Word and Power Point. Must be able to pass a background investigation in order to obtain and maintain a security clearance to access Tyndall AFB and obtain clearance to operate the government computer system.

  • Must be capable to survey proposed work to determine work scoping/resource requirements.

  • Ensures compliance with all safety and environmental regulations to include confined space programs.

  • Solves recurring maintenance problems by studying layout drawings, wiring, and schematic drawings, and analyzing construction and operating characteristics.

  • Must be capable to recommended and identify repair actions required to new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil, and gas distribution systems, and water closets, tubs, backflow prevention devices/assemblies, fire sprinkler systems, and showers.

  • Must have a working knowledge on operational principals for natural gas, plumbing, water and wastewater treatment systems, fire suppression, backflow prevention systems, aircraft hydrant refueling, bulk storage, and ground product dispensing systems.
